In the video above, one last thing is missing: boil the plate again, when the solder mask is scratched off, then the text also will be sealed.

If I want a matte surface with really white text, e.g. for plane instrument, I start by water sanding the surface with grain 1000, and let the first step of etching in NaOH take place in strong concentration and for a long time.
